This girl...she is a lucky one to have three adoring big brothers. I always wanted an older brother. You'll have to forgive me in the coming days and weeks for giving you a barrage of Clementine photos and posts. The newborn time is so fleeting and I am trying to capture all of it (in case you couldn't tell!) I overdid it a bit yesterday getting back into the swing of life, trying to balance it all with a newborn while recovering from pregnancy. It's amazing how fast our bodies bounce back from incredibly intense changes. I've tried very hard to take it easy despite feeling pretty good, knowing that the rest is an important part of full recovery, however, like I just said, I think I did a little too much yesterday. House cleaning, the sudden urge to make homemeade doughnuts (I had Cate and Grace do most of it), and going to my sister's for the evening for our annual Book Lover's party. One of my favorite nights of the year- I didn't want to miss it, though I'm not supposed to leave the house, really, till Sunday, and even then, get back into things slowly. I couldn't miss Book Lover's night, where we do a book exchange and bring a food from a book (thus the homemade doughnuts, from Farmer Boy). It is one of Cate and Grace's favorite nights as well, and I knew we couldn't miss it for the world, nevertheless, yesterday was my first taste of some of the crazy days I know I have ahead of me with seven children now. Yes, seven. I'm gearing up for a wild ride, that's for sure.
I have three full days of rest left until Clementine is two weeks old and I can slowly get back into my routine, and I think I am going to take full advantage of them. For one thing. I must finish up this blanket. It's so close to being done! Now that everyone knows she's a girl, I don't have to keep putting black and white photos on here of the blanket. The colors are pink, light and dark gray, and orange. Clementine orange. I kid you not, that is the name of the colorway: Clementine. Of course the moment I saw that particular skein of yarn I knew it had to be part of a blanket for baby Clementine. She has a fair amount of orange items; blankets and socks and sleepers, and I painted her chest of clothes orange as well. I don't know how long I'll keep up the "Clementine Orange" theme, however it is fun for now!
Back to the blanket knitting, now...maybe while sipping some tea (thank goodness we finally have an overcast day after the last week of scorching heat!) and of course, snuggling with Clementine.
