No new baby to report to you, but here are some more images of Puppy. A nice little distraction until Baby arrives...I am super proud of how Grace and Gideon have been working with her. There is a long way to go with training, but so far they have been doing a great job housebreaking her and teaching her commands. Isis got her splint off yesterday and has a little bandage instead. Now we need to work a bunch with her every day getting the leg to bend again properly. We are hopeful that she'll regain full use of her leg soon! Meanwhile, her ears are starting to pop up- so adorable!
Every day I think, this may be the last day posting here before baby- and yet, here I am again. Each day that goes by is one day closer though. Sounds kind of obvious, but is somehow helpful to remember! Now for another full day of trying to keep the house clean, laundry caught up, food stocked, visit to the midwife, helping the children with piano practice. We need to go out and pick a bunch of vegetables from the garden, too.
We got a huge amount of rain the last few days and I am certain there is a bunch of produce waiting to be picked. Lots more zucchini, yes, but hopefully some more cucumbers (which are DELICIOUS!) and wee green beans. We ate the first of those last night and they were amazing. My favorite way to eat green beans is sauteed with onions and bacon. Everyone loves it- it's probably our favorite side dish, though when I make it becomes more of a main dish than a side! I also shredded some zucchini and cooked it just for a minute or two and served it with pesto (the basil was from our garden, of course). Most of the kids liked it pretty well and I have to say it tasted like a pretty healthy version of pasta. So I may give it another try again soon. We made a loaf of zucchini bread, too. That of course is easy to eat but doesn't use up very much zucchini. Well, I'll keep experimenting!
