This week I am going to try to remember the words of Jesus: "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me." It can sometimes feel like such a mundane task, mothering. In light of all the issues going on in the world right now, and all the causes that can be taken up, raising children can seem like such a small thing to be doing with my life.
But it is no small thing when Jesus says that serving my children is the same thing as serving Him, and therefore the Father that sent Him. It's too easy for me to belittle what I do each day, to tell myself that it is unimportant.
But when I get Truman yet another glass of water, it's the same as giving it to the Lord. I'm going to remember that today. I will strive to be kinder, more patient, more attentive, more loving to my children; and I will remember that while I am doing these things I am serving the Lord.
